Save the Date: Transatlantic webinar on work-based training

GOVET is organizing a webinar together with the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development on November 19. The transatlantic exchange is aimed at those interested in vocational education and training in both countries and focuses on practice-oriented training in the USA and Germany.

Renowned experts from both countries will share their experiences and strategies for further strengthening and adapting training systems to global developments. The focus is particularly on attractiveness and permeability, such as the Youth Apprenticeship model and the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg.

The speakers are:

  • Amy Pechacek, Secretary of Labor of the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development
  • Prof. Dr. Hubert Ertl, Vice President of the Federal Institute for Vocational Education and Training (BIBB)
  • Prof. Dr. Henning Klaffke, Berufliche Hochschule Hamburg 
  • David Polk, Director of the Wisconsin DWD Apprenticeship Bureau

The free webinar will cover the following topics:

  • Innovative approaches to further developing apprenticeships
  • Promoting training pathways in emerging fields such as artificial intelligence
  • Creating permeable career pathways that extend from associate degree to bachelor's and graduate level
